Ayesha Altugle is the main protagonist of Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk. She is mentioned throughout Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky and makes an appearance in Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea.
Ayesha is a young apothecarist living in a small and secluded workshop with her elderly grandfather and younger sister Nio Altugle. She is talented in making all sorts of remedies and medications, which are very famously known across the country. Because she leads such a secluded life, Ayesha is a very naive person, although very kind.
When she leaves on her journey, she is very eager to learn more about becoming an alchemist even though she knows very little about it. She is very keen to try new things, even if she is unsuccessful or unsure of herself. As her confidence grows, Ayesha gains knowledge and becomes a very powerful alchemist. She is known for her upbeat attitude and for never giving up on her goals, no matter how impossible or difficult they may seem.
Role in Atelier Ayesha
Ayesha is the main protagonist of the game, and the character the player will take the role of and control through the game.
After her grandfather dies, her young sister also mysteriously disappears. After both of her family members leave her alone, Ayesha struggles to move on with her life. Despite being faced with constant hardship, Ayesha tries to remain as upbeat as possible, and continues to run the workshop.
While visiting her sister's grave on the third anniversary of her disappearance, Ayesha sees a figure who looks nearly identical to her missing sister. A mysterious alchemist tells Ayesha that her sister is alive, but she will not be able to reach her with her own hands. This gives Ayesha a whole new hope that her sister may still be alive, and she sets out on an adventure to be reunited with Nio.
Role in Atelier Escha & Logy
During the time that Atelier Escha & Logy takes place, she has been traveling with Keithgriff and Odelia and has now officially become Keithgriff's apprentice.
Judging from what Nio tells Escha and Logy, she appears to be wanted and sought after by The Center after entering a important ruin that was forbidden to enter and might have caused its collapse.
Battle
Unlike the other playable characters of the game, Ayesha can use items from the basket in battle. She does not posses any MP-requiring skills, but using certain items will consume MP. While these items can still be used even if Ayesha does not have enough MP, their effect will be weaker. Ayesha uses staff-type weapons in battle.
Ayesha's basic attack power is very low, and her basic HP is also low. Ayesha's stats can however increase additionally through diary entry bonuses.
With one of Ayesha's AC skills, it's possible for Ayesha to "search" and therefore obtain items in battle when used. Even items that cannot be gathered from gathering spots and are only obtained from defeating enemies can be obtained this way, and the skill can therefore be useful for gathering rare and very limited ingredients.
