Nanami Schmidt is a character appearing in Atelier Violet: The Alchemist of Gramnad 2. She was introduced in the PSP port of the game.
Nanami is a merchant full of energy who came to Karotte Village to set up her own shop after hearing about the recent raise of popularity in the village. She likes money and her dream is to expand her shop into a country-wide franchise. Despite her business-minded mannerism, she also has a sharp tongue and can get rude when it comes to matters like window-shopping. However, she is not a bad person at heart. She also refers to herself in third person and by her nickname "Nana".
She used to be a clerk in her parents grocery store in a village, but was allowed by her parents to travel and become a peddler.
Nanami and her store will appear in Karotte Village if the population and development of the village is high enough. The player can buy a wide variety items from her.
Her sharp tongue often shows towards Violet, and she often emphasises the importance of smiling when doing business. She recognizes Violet's skills as an alchemists, but she believes that Violet still has a long way to go when it comes to business. While Nanami can come of as intimidating, she wants to support Violet.
Unusually enough, she has several event artworks despite not being a playable character, and they occur very frequenly compared to most other characters.
- There was a series of trailers for the game narrated by Nanami.
- She uses make-up.
- Her apperance, role, name in katakana and demeanor are all very similar to Nunnaly Cellbane from Atelier Lina: The Alchemist of Strahl. They also share a nickname and have very similar introduction scenes, with some lines of dialogue even being the same.
