Ruven Filnir is a supporting character in Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg, Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg, Atelier Elie: The Alchemist of Salburg 2, Atelier Marie GB and Atelier Marie, Elie & Anis: Message on the Gentle Breeze. He also has a minor role as a helper in Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists: Ateliers of the New World and a summonable character in Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy & the Liberator of Polar Night.

Ruven is a wandering adventurer for hire. Originally from the village of Vaisen, Ruven escaped his Kindgom of Shigsal after Shigsal and Domhaid waged war against one another. At the age of five, his village was destroyed, and he was separated from his parents. Ruven fled and eventually found his way to Salburg.

Since he was separated from his parents, he still holds hope that they are alive and well. It is Ruven's dream to eventually find his parents and to reunite with them.

Role[]

Atelier Marie[]

Ruven is the first adventurer that Marie can recruit into the party. He is cheap to hire in the beginning of the game, but his weapon is weak. He will first be introduced when visiting the tavern.

If Ruven's friendship level reaches a high enough level by December of Year 5, he will tell Marie that he is leaving the kingdom in search of his parents. From this point on, he will be permanently gone from the game, and he will be unavailable to hire.

Atelier Marie Remake[]

Ruven has the same role as the original game, but also has brand new events, showcasing how the aftermath of the war still lingers in society and Ruven's views on the matter.

Atelier Elie[]

Ruven has left Salburg and is still searching for his parents. He is an hireable adventurer and a potential love interest for Elie.

After befriending him enough, he will report that he has finally found information on his father's whereabouts. It turns out that his parents appear to have been looking for him too, travelling around settlements in the Salburg area. Ruven decides to stay in Salburg until the day his parents reach the city.

Soon afterwards, Ruven will come to Elie's workshop and announce he has found his parents. However, he is not sure if he should return to his hometown and live with his parents, or stay in Salburg, the town he has come to like through his adventurer life. The player will be presented with a choice between the two. If the player tells Ruven to return home, he will no longer be recruitable. If the player asks him to stay, the artwork "Beyond the Sunset" will be shown and Ruven will thank Elie for helping him make up his mind.

Atelier Marie, Elie & Anis[]

Ruven is still working as an adventurer in Salburg, but this time to save up money to bring his family to the city. He remains good friends with Marie, and advises the player on the different gathering locations around Salburg. He is one of the earliest recruitable party members and is one of the strongest characters early in the game. His fee is relatively cheap, and as he is located in Salburg, the player can also more conveniently switch him in and out of the party compared to characters from far-away cities.

Atelier Marie GB[]

An hireable adventurer and the Fairy's swordfighting master. He is one of the strongest party members in the game, but also very expensive.[3]
